Kiss of a vampire advert.
The Advert is set in a graveyard and has a castle in the background, which is a use of a hermeneutic code, this is because this creates a sense of mystery and suspense. This creates meaning for the advert as the movie is of the Horror genre and the use of a hermeneutic code emphasises this. The use of low-key lighting creates the sense of the unknown and paired with the mise en scene of the blood dripping from the letters creates a sinister atmosphere. The mise en scene of the bats creates a sense of fear as bats have connotations of disease and evil. The bats are also used as a symbolic code as they are a symbol of darkness. The blond female character is also a use of a symbolic code, this is because she represents the innocent and the weak. The brunette female character is a vampire which is atypical as women are usually as symbol of weakness, however its clear that the producers ideology wanted to show that women can be strong and can be feared as well as men. Both women are wearing white/pale coloured dresses which is another example of a symbolic code. This represents innocence and purity, yet this idea is juxtaposed with the female vampire as she isn't viewed as innocent. The facial expressions of the characters faces represent fear this could be an example of a proairetic code as it refers that something is about to happen. The title 'Kiss of a vampire' looks as if its been made out of wood, which has connotations of a wooden stake which is a vampires weakness.
Tide advert
The use of the colour red throughout the advert is a symbolic code of love and passion. The producers ideology of the housewife character is that women don't need men if they have tide. This is shown through the use of a proaietic code of the women pursing her lips which conveys she wants to kiss the tide box. The colours of red yellow and blue worn by the characters are a symbolic code for Tide as Tide uses the same colours. The use of the word miricale is a hyperbole as it suggests that Tide is something created by God.
Representation
In the Annihilitation poster all the characters are female. The typical representation of women are that they are typically weaker figures, non violent, caring and stereotypically pretty. However the representation of women in this ad is atypical as some of the female characters are holding guns which has connotations of violence and war. This suggests that the females are not weak figures but they are strong. The audience are positioned out of the characters view so the characters are looking beyond/behind us. This may be an example of a proiretic code as this may indicate that something is coming towards 'us'. The characters all have stern, focused facial expressions. This indicates that again women can be stong. Its clear that the producers ideology of women are atypical as its gives the message that women don't need men to fight and that they can be powerful too. The slogan
