  • How has the representation of gay men changed since Attitude was first published?
- The first issue featuring Boy George presents gay men to be very hyperfeminine and evokes an avant-garde aethestic.
-The first issue's focus is more about Boy George appearing pretty with no sexualisation.
-The 2nd, 3rd and 4th covers feature celebrities who aren't gay yet are very heavily sexualised.
- The models are also celebrities which at the time had strong sexual connotation accosiated with them.
- They all have a lot of skin showing which emphasises tehir sex appeal.
- Gary Barlow, David Beckham and Tyson Beckford all present the hyperreal expectation of what gay men want/attracted too. 
- Celebrity females like Madonna and Kylie Manogue are featured, Madonna evoking mystery and sex appeal through the ue of dark yet a colourful colour palette.
- Kylie is used more as a fashion icon rather than for her sex appeal, suggesting gay men are heavily into pop stars and fashion.
-2008s issue features well known celebrities young and old who are openly gay. However in this issue it takes a more modern approach with the celebrities being represented like 'your average joe'.
- 2008s issues takes a more realisitc approch to what gay men actully look like with no stereotypes being emphasised.
- 2009s issue takes a comedic approach to homosexuality presenting an exagerrated stereotype of gay men. 
- Sacha Baron Cohen is a well known comedy actor who is heterosexual yet pays exaggerated stereotypes in his movies. 
-2010s issues takes a more political approach with the only reference to homosexuaity is the headline ' Dave 43 .... looking for gay love'.
-2013 editions feature very famous celebrities like James Franco and Lady gaga.
- These edition are more classy in apperance and fashionable. These editions are also very aethetically pleasing.
-2014 goes back to featuring a gay celebrity/ sportsman without a hyperreal representation ie. he isnt extremely muscular, he isnt wearing tight clothing,he isn't posing in a sexual way.
-The anniversay editions take on various different approaches, by featuring gay celebrities, featuring pop stars like Kylie manogue, having heterosexual musicians taking a comedic approach, using Ed Milliband for a political focus, then lastly having ators from soap operas presented in a classy photoshoot.

- Gay men are presented to be hyperfeminine and stereotypically gay.
- Gay men are reflected to liking straight men that are an extreme hyperreal representation by using muscuar celebrities.
-Gay men are also presented to be into fashion and pop music by featuring stars like Kylie and Madonna.
- Gay men are also presented to be your 'average joe' by including celebrities that arent 'camp' and dressed in various outfits anchoring the ideology that gay men can look like any man.
- Gay men are also presented in a comedic and extremely stereotypical way by using actor and musician Sacha Baron Cohen and Harry Judd.
- Gay men are presented to be very classy through some editions including celebrities wearing suits and having and overall smart and classy aethetic.
- Gay men are also reflected to be professional and smart by having editions featuring polititians and people like Stephan Fry.

  • What is Attitude's target audience (beyond being gay men), and how does it target them?
- Attitude targets women young adults-middle aged by including big female pop stars like Kylie, Madonna and Lady Gaga. By having these celebrities from the 80s to modern day it targets a mass female audience.
- Women are also targeted by including famous celebritites that have a big sex appeal such as David Beckham and Gary Barlow. These men have a large fan base and are known for how heganomically attractive they are so it increases audience appeal.
- These celebs may also attarct heterosexual men as these celebrities are known for their good physiques so men may look at them for inspiration.
- Straight men who idolise or fine Madonna or Kylie Manogue attractive may also be a target audience for this magazine.
- Young men may be a target audience through the comedic covers in this magazine with Sacha Baron Cohen and Musician Harry Judd. These celebrities are well known and liked so there covers could attract younger men or teens.
- Lastly young women/teens could be a secondary audience from recognising Daniel Radcliffe from Harry Potter or for fashion and makeup inspiration from Boy georges cover and Lady gagas and Kylies covers.
