Curren and Seaton Attitude question.

Curren & Seaton argued that the media industries are solely motivated by the acquisition of profit and the procurement of power. To what extent does Attitude Online conform to this practice?

  • Attitude online only exists as a promtion for the physical magazine therefore it's aiming to influence its audience into buying the mgazine and mazimising readership.
  • By Stream buying Attitude it allows for multimedia integration as Attitude online is now being cross promoted on Streams site which gives Attitude more exposure.
  • Digitalising Attitude allows for a larger distribution of its ideologies which further leads to its power of influencing audiences worldwide which further leads to profit.
  • Counter argue that accessing and reading articles on Attitude online is free therefore they gain no profit.
  • However, Attitude online feautres many ads thereofe making a profit despite the ads being irreleveant to Attitudes ideologies suggesting they are only feature for profit.
  • Many of the online artices like 'The perfect valantines getaway' promote other buisnesses giving them advertisment to Attitudes audeience further making profit.
  • By Attitude online featuring stereotypically gay content and having a large readership it allows them to have a lot of power as they are heavily envolved in the LGBTQ+ community. From this they can cultivate ideologies that will be potentially adopted by a large audience.
